Concrete is the foundation of almost everything in the construction industry. With the supply and demand of concrete always changing, especially since COVID-19, we can expect to see a huge demand boom for the concrete and cement industry.

The constant building of highways, bridges and roads results in the high demand for certain materials including concrete. When construction stopped during the peak of the pandemic, these materials suffered and now the supply and demand chain of concrete is fluctuating. With construction companies getting back to work, concrete prices are increasing and the material is now limited.

According to the Infection Control Risk Assessment, they predict that the demand of concrete will increase by 20% in the year 2022. With Texas being the biggest net importer of concrete we can expect this to change the market completely.

Not only is concrete a difficult factor in the construction industry but this has affected workers. Many companies are suffering from lack of workers and truck drivers. This along with the pressure of the cement market is directly affecting the construction industry making it more difficult to work and produce.

With the demand, the best way for companies to tackle this is to plan accordingly. Purchase concrete and cement when needed, and keep an eye on the market. When the market increases even more, think about purchasing and saving. Monitor workers and actively work in a timely manner.
