Public parks are enjoyable not only for families but for the entire community. Hemisfair Park is one example of bringing community events to a fun, open space. Hemisfair Park first became nationally recognized in 1968 when it hosted that year’s World Fair. Now, it is a community with residences, local businesses and public parks in the center of San Antonio.

There are three parks located within Hemisfair Park: Yanaguana Garden, Civic Park and Tower Park. Yanaguana Garden is a landscaped outdoor utopia for everyone with various centers of activity for children as well as artistic characteristics and dining for adults to enjoy. Expecting to open in 2022, Civic Park is designed as an urban green space to host a variety of festivals, live music, celebrations, and more. The purpose is to bring people together and strengthen the community overall. Estimated to start construction in 2023, Tower Park will be the third park in Hemisfair Park and located near the Tower of Americas, another feature inside the park.

There are a variety of amenities and activities within Hemisfair park, but the art is a critical piece of its popularity. Some of the pieces were made for interaction and some were made for many to ponder its beauty. There are also a variety of dining and drink options as well for families, dates and friendly gatherings.

Jerdon Enterprise, L.P. held an essential role in the redevelopment of Hemisfair Park. As part of the Streets, Bridges, and Sidewalks 2012 Bond Program, Jerdon Enterprise focused on the improvements of bicycle lanes, relocation of utilities, street lighting, street and sidewalk concrete improvements, and more. The goal of the project was to revitalize the beauty through the common traffic areas from both people and vehicles. The portion of Hemisfair Park along E. Nueva included two existing art pieces, the Berlin Bar and Francisco Madero, that were removed to maintain the safety from damage while the new road was constructed. The new street and sidewalks, along with other aspects of the project, allows visitors to enjoy the aesthetic pieces within the park that share the history of the city.

Having over three decades of engineering and construction experience, Jerdon Enterprises takes pride in our involvement with the redevelopment of Hemisfair Park.
